Nokia N1 Tablet: Nokia’s First Android Branded Tablet

Nokia has recently launched a brand new tablet of 7.9 inches, running Android Lollipop and Nokia Z launcher on top and the device is called the Nokia N1, which is the first Nokia branded Android tablet. The device will be first launched in China in Q1 2015 for an estimated price of $249 (without taxes) and with a brand licensing agreement extending to an OEM partner (Foxconn) that will manufacture, distribute and sell it.

Finland’s Nokia has neatly bypassed the restrictions imposed by the Microsoft deal (after the acquisition of Nokia’s devices and services division by Microsoft, Nokia can no longer use the Nokia brand on smart phones till Q4 2014, and on feature phones for 10 years).

Sebastian Nystrom, Head of Products at Nokia Technologies, who announced the Nokia N1 Tablet at the Slush Technology conference in Helsinki, said,” We are pleased to bring the Nokia brand back into the consumer’s hands with the N1 Android tablet, and to help make sophisticated technologies simple. The N1 has a delightfully intuitive interface and an industrial design to match it. This is a great product for Nokia fans and everyone who has not found the right Android tablet yet.”

Nokia N1 tablet is very much identical to the rear of the iPad mini. Even the bottom of the device has the same speaker grills and what looks like a lightning port, but is actually one of the first implementations of the reversible Type-C USB connector. The only thing missing here to complete the iPad mini look is a home button, chamfered edges, and an Apple logo. There is even Natural Aluminum and Lava Grey color schemes, and a cover that looks very much similar to Apple’s Smart Case.

Nokia N1 tablet is equipped with latest technology including Android 5.0 Lollipop and Nokia Z Launcher on the top. It is a great move by Nokia and we hope it performs well in the market. It will be launched in Q1 2015 in China and in other markets at a later date.
