Chrome Operating System is designed by Google to work with applications and installed applications. Chrome Operating System is based on Linux Kernel. Chrome OS is an open source software and it provides a fast and secured computing experience. Though you can still run Linux in Chrome OS, but in that case you will have to keep hopping between virtual terminals. You will have to keep jumping from Chrome OS to Linux and vice versa. There is no way to run Linux in Window on Chrome OS except the one mentioned below.

But now there is good news for Chrome Operating System users. Users can run Linux in Window on Chrome OS through an extension. This extraordinary extension is named as Crouton. Google’s Happiness Evangelist Francois said in a post in Google+, “Google Intern has added support to run Crouton in a Chrome OS Window”.  This will let the users to run Linux in Window on Chrome OS.

HOW TO RUN LINUX IN WINDOW ON CHROME OS

In order to run Linux in Window on Chrome OS, Chrome operating system users need to follow the steps mentioned below:

  • First of all, you need to set your device to run in Developer Mode. This will allow the users to run Linux in Window on Chrome OS without hopping from one operating system to other.
  • Install Crouton Integration Chrome Extension.
  • Download Crouton from the web or click here for direct download.
  • Open the shell with ++T.
  • Type shell and then hit.
  • Run sudo sh /Downloads.

You need to execute all the steps mentioned above in a sequential manner. These steps will let you run Linux in Window on Chrome OS.
